Since 1995 when Habanos S.A. started rewarding people who have contributed to the improvement, distribution and knowledge of the product, many boldface names have won the Habano Awards.
This time around, these were the personalities distinguished with this major award: in the Production category the winner was tobacco planter Armando Rodriguez Chill; in the Business category, the top prize went to Jemma Freeman, a Habano distributor in the UK; in the Communications category the top honors were for Jose Castelar Cueto, holder of several Guinness world records for having rolled the world’s longest habano. Mr. Cueto received the award from Jim Belushi, Phil Manzanera and Augusto Enriquez.
