Awards at the 19th Habano Festival Presented
After five days of tribute to the world’s most sought-after Premium cigars, the 19th Habano Festival came to a close Friday with the presentation of its awards during a gala presided over by Habanos S.A.’s co-presidents Inocente Núñez and Luis Sánchez-Harguindey.
UK’s Slavomir Marek Bielicki and Krystian Hordejuk, from the UAE, finished second and third, respectively, in a battle in which all contenders were put through their paces in serving the world’s best premium cigars. Italy’s Andrea Balzani ended in fourth place.
Top awards in different categories were doled out among the exhibitors who attended the festival’s Tradeshow. The jury, made up of members of the Cuban Association of Social Communicators, granted top honors in the Best Stand Freestyle Design to Brascuba S.A. Mentions went to Cubana de Tabaco S.A.; La Bodeguita and El Floridita, run by Palmares S.A.; and Havana Club S.A.
The award in the Best Modular Design went to the stand set up by Italy’s Bonghab, while CIMEX Corporation was the winner in the Most Visited Stand category. Mentions in this respect went to Spain’s Comercial Iberoamericana S.A., and Cuba Ron S.A. Havana Club International S.A. nabbed top honors in the Comprehensive Communication category.
In his closing keynote speech, Habanos S.A. co-president Inocente Núñez thanked delegates for this year’s massive turnout and called on them to attend next year’s 20th edition of the festival. “It’s sad to reach the end of such a successful and lovely event, yet this is also a moment for satisfaction. For just one more year, the festival has exceeded all expectations. Thanks to all of you,” he said.
