Blindfolded Tasting: Putting All Senses to the Test
The winner of this contest’s second edition proved to be blessed with special sensitivity. Leticia Cabrera, from the El Aljibe Restaurant’s Casa del Habano, flaunted her tremendous tactile, gustative and smell skills in a test everybody agrees is extremely difficult in every way.
First, three different habanos are supposed to be identified by touch (ring gauge and length). Then with the habanos before the competitors’ eyes, the brand and the vitola are to be identified by their taste and scent. As a matter of fact, the winner is a native of Vuelta Abajo and no doubt a passionate lover of this amazing product.
The runner-up in this competition was Orlando Blanco, maître of the Vedado Hotel in Havana.
