Bolívar Lusíadas: The Star of Casa Havaneza’s 154th Anniversary

Lisbon, (Páteo Alfacinha) in Portugal, has hosted the celebration of the 154th anniversary of Casa Havaneza, where the much-anticipated Edición Regional Bolívar Lusíadas was finally sold.

Casa Havaneza is one of the most emblematic and long-standing cigar stores on planet Earth. People say it was created back in 1864, but pieces of advertisement from the time show that it opened its doors in 1855. Empor S.A., exclusive distributor of Habanos for Portugal, manages four Casas Havanezas, three in Lisbon and one in Oporto.

The dinner, organized by Empor, S.A, was attended by the Cuban Ambassador, Her Excellency Mrs. Mercedes Martinez, and other boldface names. The event became a magnificent scenery for pairings between Habanos and high-quality rums, mojitos, gin and wines, an unrivaled group of aromas and tastes that were enjoyed by over 100 people.

The attendees tasted several Habanos, including Montecristo Petit Edmundo, accompanied by Habana Club Mojitos, Gin nº3, Founders on the Rocks and Tonic Sandeman Branco.

The dinner was carpeted by a pleasant environment, poems recited by actor Pedro Giestas – a fragment of “Os Lusíadas”-, dedicated to the new Edición Regional, and the music played by a Cuban band.

The evening came to an end with the tasting of the Edición Regional for Portugal, Bolívar Lusíadas, paired with The Glenrothes Select Reserve, Sandeman Porto Tawny 20 Years and Havana Club Selección de Maestros.

Moreover, the attendees enjoyed the awards given by Empor S.A. and sponsors Sogrape and Pernord Ricard.
