Cigar-Rolling Master Class, Living the Tradition

Beyond a simple process within the Habano-making chain, cigar-rolling is a captivating experience that requires expertise and high detail level. On Wednesday, attendees to the 20th Habano Festival had the opportunity to test their skills in the making of a figurado (torpedo), as part of the most traditional and suggestive initiatives offered by this event.

With over two decades of experience in the tobacco industry, master cigar maker Miguel Barzaga gave the much-anticipated master class, which engulfed the rolling of a Short Pirámides (ring gauge 55 x 120 mm long). During an hour, he detailed each of the steps in the process all the way to the end.

The exchange was attended by cigar makers from such renowned factories as La Corona, Partagás, H. Upmann and El Laguito, who accompanied aficionados through this experience and praised this centenarian tradition in Cuba.
