Under the pretext of launching the Cohiba Behike line –the most exclusive Habanos S.A. has ever rolled out- the El Laguito cigar factory was one of the meeting grounds for the lucky attendants to the 12th Habano Festival for they had the chance of seeing the rollers of Cohiba Behike, the most exclusive habano line that will be puffed on for the first time ever at the Closing Dinner.
Behike joins now the great Cohiba family, whose members include the Classic Lines (Lanceros and Robustos, among others); 1492, a.k.a. Siglos; and Maduro 5, with its highly acclaimed Genios, Mágicos and Secretos vitolas.
The Cohiba brand came into being back in 1966 with very limited productions reserved as gifts by the Cuban government to heads of State, high-ranking delegations and world statesmen. It eventually got its big break in the international market in 1982.
Visiting the El Laguito cigar factory, a lovely mansion that was transformed into a huge workshop without letting go of its charms, is quite a privilege that only a handful of people from around the world have enjoyed. It’s only during the Habano Festivals when this place opens up its gates to let in the lovers of the world’s premium cigars for them to see the birthplace and the makers of that wonder called Cohiba.
