Habanos S.A.’s vice president for Development Javier Terres, summoned attendees to come back for the 13th Habano Festival slated from Feb. 21 to 25, 2011.

Mr. Terres said the turnout to the 12th Habano Festival and its tradeshow was very positive, as some 1,800 habano enthusiasts from 70 nations showed up.

He also explained that in spite of the ongoing global economic crisis, Cuba’s premium cigars –rolled by hand- edged up its market share and posted good numbers in terms of volume, value, image, quality and innovation.

One of the highlights of the festival was no doubt the launch of the Cohiba Behike and the tribute paid to women who smoke, produce and sell Cuban tobacco and cigars.

As to the tradeshow’s awards, the First Prize went to the Comercial Iberoamericana company’s modular booth, while Cuban-Brazilian joint venture Brascuba S.A. walked off with a mention of honor.

In the Best Freestyle Booth Design, Cuban distributing company CIMEX grabbed top honors, while the mentions went to Internacional Cubana de Tabaco (ICT) and Promocigar.

For its part, Comercial Cuba Café nabbed the prize to the Most Visited Booth.
