The International Habanosommelier Contest –the grand finale is slated for the closing day of the 15th Habano Festival- will feature a trio of habanosommeliers from Venezuela, the UK and Cuba.

The three competitors vying for the banner of the World’s Best Habanosommelier are Pedro Tejeda, from the celebrated Bodeguita del Medio, who awed the jury with his pairing of sour chocolate, 15-year Legendario rum and a Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchills.

The other contesters are Peter Dobrontei, from the UK, who came up in the preliminary round with a Royal Tokaji and an Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial; and Venezuela’s Jose Gregorio Pereira, who got two thumbs up for his combination of Diplomatico Single Vintage 1997 rum and a Vegas Robaina Unicos.
