Spain recently held its first Habanos Day, organized by Pasión Habanos Club, and it has already been labeled the most important event ever planned in Spain as far as Habanos are concerned.


This meeting gathered over 220 people interested in tasting some of the finest Habanos, along with a significant selection of Premium products, in an unparalleled place: the Oxley Gentlemen Club (C/Miguel Ángel, 27) nestled in the heart of Madrid.


Attendees enjoyed a very special day with nonstop activities from 11:30 am to 8:30 pm, including a master class to learn how to hand-roll a Habano. Participants had the opportunity to make a Habano with their own hands, guided by two Cuban cigar makers and premium cigar expert José Andrés Colmena.


Likewise, they were very interested in the workshops to get to know different types of Belgium Affigem beer, taste the refined Lustau sherry, hear a master class on Gin Oxley or anticipate the moment when they wallowed in different “coffees of the world”, Guilis.


Furthermore, the day included exquisite tastings of the finest gourmet products, such as Nacarii caviar, Boffard cheese, Valrhona chocolate, Foie Imperia, D.O. wines from the best regions of Spain: D.O.Ca Rioja Marqués de Vargas, D.O. Ribera del Duero Conde de San Cristóbal, D.O. Rías Baixas Pazo San Mauro and a whole lot more.


Attendees enjoyed a cocktail-lunch prepared by celebrated chef Paco Roncero, with delicious muffins of black olive, filipino made of goat cheese with white chocolate, cod brandada and cheese lollipops.


There were exhibitions of watch collections by Cuervo and Sobrinos, smoking chairs and humidors. James Suckling’s documentary on the Habano world was screened. 


All these activities were accompanied by a group of Habanos that were especially handpicked for the occasion: Montecristo No. 2, Cohiba Siglo II and Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchills.
