Inauguran Galería Habanos

With a grand total of 67 booths from different countries and over 800 square meters of exhibition space, the tradeshow attached to the ongoing 17th edition of the Habano Festival has definitely yielded the largest turnout ever.

In his keynote remarks to officially open the tradeshow, TABACUBA president Hernan Aguilar Parra said this kind of event has turned out to be the perfect moment to share technical and commercial experiences among businesspeople, producers, suppliers and the attending public from around the world.

“Year after year, this fair is becoming one of the Festival’s top events, an outstanding meeting ground not only for manufacturers and suppliers from the tobacco industry, but also for handcrafters, collectors, dealers of smoker-related items, makers of luxury products, graphic artists and entrepreneurs, transporters and providers from the gourmet realm,” he was quoted as saying.

During his opening speech, Mr. Aguilar Parra welcomed representatives from Germany, Brazil, Italy, China, Spain, Canada and Panama. He uttered words of appreciation for the extraordinary response by the 45 Cuban exhibitors that are showcasing a rich sample of handicrafts, cultural and musical products, fashion, tourism, gastronomy and everything linked to the habanos, ranging from collectables to smoker-related items, such as cigar cases and humidors.

As part of the opening sessions, the Habanos Gallery also opened, this time around with the exhibition of artworks that recreate tobacco traditions produced by boldface names of Cuba’s contemporary painting, like Nelson Dominguez, Flora Fong, Zaida del Rio and Eduardo Roca Salazar (Choco).

“The habano, through its origin, tradition and brands, makes millions of people from around the world daydream. I’m confident the suggesting artworks created by our artists will make those attending the 17th Habano Festival daydream as well,” he concluded.

The event was attended by Habanos S.A. co-presidents Inocente Nuñez Blanco and Luis Sanchez-Harguindey Pardo De Vera; Marketing vice president Jorge Luis Fernandez Maike; Logistics vice president Fidel Sánchez Triana; Financial vice president Antonio Pascual Garcia; Development vice president Javier Terres de Ercilla; Strategic Marketing director Jose Maria Lopez Inchaurbe, as well as Abraham Macique, director of the PALCO Group.
