Puffing on Habanos while drinking wine –even choosing the latter to be companion during the whole meal, from the hour d’oeuvre till the dessert and even the after-meal talk- is becoming a trendsetting practice. As the world is enduring major changes in climate conditions, seasons and the time we use for activities in our daily lives, human beings are further planning their personal finances, either because they are bound to do –given the conditions in their countries- or just because they can’t afford to waste their time because, as the old saying goes, “time is money.”
The alliance between wine No. 2, a 2008 Reserve Red from the Beronia Bodegas, and wine No. 4 –a 2007 Reserve Red from Dominio de Campo Viejo Bodegas, both from Spain- and the H. Upmann No. 2 and the Montecristo No. 2 Habanos, respectively, grabbed top honors among participants of the grand finale of the Habanos-Rioja Alliance held within the framework of the 15th Habano Festival.
The Habanos Festival in Cuba comes around every year with new surprises. This time around, Habanos P.D.O. and Rioja (certified D.O.) have woven an alliance to be sealed during the Festival.
A very special night devoted to gastronomy and Mexican culture was the choice picked for the members of the Smokers Club of Habanos at the Iberostar Parque Central Hotel, right in the heart of Old Havana.
The onset was marked by emblematic margaritas to open the night, followed by the amazing tequilas that distinguish the Aztec land. The superb meal consisted of lobster chilpachole, callo de hacha and local avocado scented with mescal and washed down with a glass of Cava Sarda Brut Gourmet.
