A Pairing for Pleasure


A mixture of tastes, scents and senses was set on the table Thursday for those attending the 21st edition of the Habano Festival, by the hand of pairing between Habanos Tropical and Habana 500 cocktails on the one hand, and the H. Upmann Magnum 50 (ring gauge 50 x 160mm long) Habano.

The tasting session was led by José Rafa Malem, president of Cuba’s Bartender Association; Victor Aguilera, an expert from Casas del Habano, and Orlando Blanco Blanco, world Habanosommelier champion.

The opening cocktail was the Habanos Tropical, a blend of tropical fruits and exquisite aged silver rum, with smooth and fresh aftertaste notes linked to the island nation’s climate. To top it all off, the Habanos 500 cocktail came up with a complex fusion of Havana Club 7 Years that yielded coffee and tropical notes.
