Born in the tobacco plantations of Vuelta Abajo and the fertile lands of Alto Duero, both Habanos and Oporto come together in this Festival edition to close an alliance that held its first round in the city of Oporto, Portugal, in November 2011.

Pairing the best tasting combinations between Habanos and these famous Portuguese wines in the Tawny and Vintage categories included five tests in the same number of categories. Cuban habanosommeliers, staff members from Habanos S.A. and the Tobacco Institute, as well as attendees from the smokers’ clubs and the Sogrape and

Symington Family Estates companies, among others, attended the event.

The grand finale –scheduled for Thursday- will officially seal the much-anticipated alliance and people will get to know what the perfect match between these two products really is.

Beyond trumpeting the winners of this particular win-win competition, the best about this contest is the approach between Oporto and Habanos as a way to conjugate two forms of pleasure as heightened expressions of refinement.
