The 16th edition of the Habano Festival will stretch from Monday Feb. 24 to Friday Feb. 28, 2014, and this time around the fest will pay tribute to four of the most prestigious Habano brands: Hoyo de Monterrey, Partagas, Trinidad and H. Upmann.

The festival has panned out to be a benchmark event for the world’s finest cigars: the Habanos. In last year’s edition, the Habano Festival was attended by over 1,200 delegates from some 80 countries.

As part of the gathering, attendees will also join the tradeshow, a side event that reeled in 72 exhibitors from eight nations in 2013, including Germany, Canada, China, Switzerland, Italy, Panama and Cuba. Approximately 2,000 visitors from the realm of tobacco, business and luxury items attended the showroom.

At the same time, 273 journalists from 142 media organizations out of 30 countries provided live coverage of this event that has increasingly reached every corner of the planet with each passing year.

For the 16th edition of the Habano Festival, attendees –the event always lures boldface names from around the globe- will get a firsthand puff on exclusive vitolas Habanos S.A. will roll out in 2014, let alone the opportunity to unearth the roots and secrets piled up for centuries on Cuba’s tobacco culture.

The Habano Festival’s program will stick to its traditional activities during this unforgettable week:

-          Visits to the best tobacco plantations of Pinar del Rio’s Vuelta Abajo

-          Visits to flagship cigar factories

-          Tradeshow

-          International seminar featuring great lectures

-          Tasting and pairing sessions featuring the finest cuisine and drinks

-          International Habanosommelier Contest

-          Totally Rolled by Hand Master Lesson

-          First contest for the longest ash

The event’s grand opening is slated for Monday Feb. 24, 2014, while the tradeshow will get cracking that same day at the Havana International Conference Center. The fair will continue to be the right place for the exchange of views among experts and businesspeople, producers and tobacco providers from around the world.

The day will come to a close with the Welcome Night at the Club Habana, featuring an exclusive concert with some of the finest Cuban performers. In the same breath, attendees will hear the nominees for the Habano Person of the Year Awards. To top things off, there’ll be a Welcome Cocktail dedicated to the Partagas and Hoyo de Monterrey brands.

Also this year, there’ll be an alliance between Habanos and exclusive international lager brands, such as Duvel, Leffe, Chimay, Malheur and Bucanero, emceed by Belgian sommelier and beer expert Ben Vinken.

This will be a year laden with lectures on a variety of topics, including “Habanos and Moviemaking”, “Germans in Habanos: The Origin of the H. Upmann Brand” and another one of Habanos Vintage, featuring the tasting of an aged Habano. Last but not least, there’ll be a lecture entitled “Elements that Exert Influence on the Burning of Habanos”. The closing event will be the contest to get the longest ash.

Wednesday Feb. 26 will be reserved for a special dinner and a heartfelt tribute to the Trinidad brand, with a menu and pairing moments staged by celebrated Dutch chef Ron Blaauw –recipient of two Michelin stars- and sommelier Cuno Van’t Hoff.

The Festival will come to a close on Friday Feb. 28 with a gala dinner in tribute to the H. Upmann brand –featuring the launch of its first Reserve- and the traditional humidor auction for the benefit of Cuba’s healthcare system.
