The International Seminar, hosted by the 20th Habano Festival, offered a master class on the cultural historic significance of the Cuban cigar industry, given by Ph.D. in Historic Sciences and president of the Jose Marti National Library, Eduardo Torres Cuevas.

“A favorable ground for high-quality tobacco growing and the characteristics of a distinctive and purely Cuban leaf are the authenticity hallmark of national cigars, which speaks volumes about us around the world,” Torres Cuevas pointed out.

Likewise, the outstanding historian referred to the unbreakable ties between Cuban sugar and cigar industries during the colonial rule of the island. “There is no way to put sugar away from Habanos, precisely because of the craftsmanship behind them, besides the diligence of men out there in the field and proper conditions to grow such products,” he underscored.
